The brief

Yorkshire Aid Convoy is a Leeds based charity that hand delivers humanitarian aid to those in need and our Director, Gary, is one of the Trustees. Set up in 2002, the charity has taken essentials to Romania and most recently, Ukraine, during their war with Russia. Since the war broke out in 2022, the Yorkshire Aid Convoy have completed ten trips to the war-sticken country, with their convoy in March 2024 being filmed by upcoming Director and Producer, Rhys Durkin. After months of editing the documentary, ‘Silent Night’ was set to be premiered at a private screening at the Everyman Cinema in Harrogate – and that’s where we stepped in.

Our approach.

In order to raise awareness of the event and charity, we undertook media relations and created a bespoke press release that would be shared with the regional media outlets. Alongside this, we also drafted tailored invitations to journalists to attend the private screening, allowing them access to exclusive interview opportunities with the Volunteers from the Charity. As a result of this media activity, we secured print, online and broadcast coverage for the documentary screening with the press release featuring in Your Harrogate, Harrogate Advertiser, with Capital and Heart radio, BBC Look North and Yorkshire Post all conducting interviews pre and post event.

The results.

After securing these opportunities, the Yorkshire Aid Convoy received an abundance of donations and thousands of views of the documentary. Our regional media contacts were thrilled with the story and hence strengthened our relationship, with many returning to us for other news stories.
