The brief

Long-term client Textar, a branch of TMD Friction, asked us to help launch their new online learning platform, Textar Virtual Academy. After recognising a skills gap in the industry, Textar developed the Virtual Academy to support new and experienced autotechnicians, with bite-size videos and easy to digest modules from experts. To spread awareness with their target audience and encourage mechanics to use the Virtual Academy platform, the Best in Braking campaign also included a leaderboard and the chance to earn prizes. Our communications strategy? A combination of creative PR, social media, and email marketing to get the word out there.

Our approach.

Pre-launch, we designed, created, and drafted a selection of teaser, launch and testimonial assets. All of these assets were translated into four other languages to be posted on their international social platforms – that’s 48 total assets created. We also drafted and built three separate email campaigns that would educate and encourage autotechnicians to sign up to the Textar Virtual Academy. Again, these emails were also translated into four other languages to spread the word in the countries Textar further operates in. 

Furthermore, we drafted a press release and utilised our established contacts in the automotive industry, to secure coverage in all the major outlets that the target audience interacts with. To date, we received 28 pieces of coverage including print, digital, social media and email mentions of the launch. This also totalled a circulation of over 505,791 readers. As well as this organic PR activity, we also secured advertising space on website banners, email newsletters, and print spaces to further aid spreading awareness of the new learning platform from Textar. 

The results.

Because of our integrated strategy, all the elements worked seamlessly together, and the pre-launch of the Textar Virtual Academy was a success. The Textar Virtual Academy gained a 4.8-star rating from the Best in Braking campaign. Textar has also helped train over 7,837 professionals globally and will continue to offer training via the Textar Virtual Academy. Part of the Best in Braking campaign, most mechanics achieved over 1200 points. However, our work isn’t done. After all, this was only phase one – phase two coming soon.
