Pure Predictions: Marketing Trends of 2025.

The marketing world is forever changing and with every new year we enter there’s bound to be a whole host of trends that will arise in the industry. From the acceleration of influencer marketing in the mid-2010s to the more common use of AI in 2024, there has always been a standout trend each year. But which will be the most remarkable for each sector of the marketing scope in 2025?

SOCIAL MEDIA

A domineering part of any marketing strategy in today’s climate is a strong social media presence and content schedule, and that is promised to continue into 2025. However, it is now predicted that social media will take up a new function and become the go-to search engine. Bing and Google may become a thing of the past as Gen Z in particular begins to find the information they need from platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO

Creating content is an essential part of the industry and in 2025, it is predicted that we will see the rise of videos, especially short form ones. This is partly due to consumers being conditioned to having a shorter attention span and brands needing to capture it more efficiently. Not only will videography do this, a switch in the style of photography is also predicted to change in order to help engage customers quicker. Retro and vintage style shooting is forecasted to be a driving force of 2025 with images that tap into that nostalgic feeling.

EVENTS

In a post-pandemic world, where so much takes place online, we’re sensing a shift back towards in-person experiences with businesses also wanting to connect with their target audience on a more personal level. After several years of trying to engage their consumers’ through a screen, many brands are circling back to pre-pandemic strategies and holding more face-to-face interactions which are becoming more impactful on their customer base and therefore increasing engagement. These events are expected to rise in 2025 with more and more businesses witnessing the results that come from interacting more personally with customers/clients.

PR

Unlike social media and videography, PR is predicted to make a return to long form media with a real push on experts in the field. This suggests that forward features and longer thought leadership pieces will be more sought after, as opposed to the short form content that has risen over recent years because of the consumers’ need to retain information quickly. These types of articles will then help to bolster the reputation of publications with readers as they are being supplied with informative pieces of writing which benefit the readers. By being able to provide these types of features to publications, it will in turn nurture the relationship between PRs and journalists.

DESIGN

Graphic design plays a vital role in any marketing strategy with elements used in almost every aspect. Whether it is collateral or social media assets, the design is what captures attention and that’s why it is imperative to stay on top of the latest trends. But, there’s a certain trend that can’t be overlooked which is expected to play an even bigger role in 2025 – AI. Generative AI is, of course, still in its developmental stages but now works more collaboratively with designers and their usual software to create designs that stand out against competitors.

WEBSITES

For many businesses, their website is the first point of contact they have with their customer base, so making a good first impression counts. With eight seconds to capture attention, ensuring that a website is contemporary and up to date is essential and therefore, keeping on top of website design trends is too. For 2025, it is speculated that interactive elements, bold typography, and personalisation will be some of the key trends that will be used in website design.
