The brief

As part of our long-standing relationship with global lubricants giant, Castrol, we recently supported the company in various ways at the largest automotive event in the country, Automechanika. Aiming to have the largest presence at the exhibition in the NEC Birmingham, Castrol had three stands at the event and our role? Design an innovative stand that captivated onlookers and offer overall event support in terms of stock taking all collateral, hand delivering the required elements needed for the exhibition, setting everything up and breaking it down.

Our approach.

We started by sketching out some initial stand design ideas that would allow for Castrol to be visually dominant at the event. These ideas then evolved into a designed flat plan of the exhibition walls to help envision how this will come together at Automechanika. Upon a few final tweaks, we then created a 3D render of what would become Castrol’s ‘Technical Stand’. This featured a wall-mounted LED 3D car that displayed Castrol’s various oil offerings.

In addition to the wall-mounted car on the ‘Technical Stand’, we also designed and developed a fully interactive slot machine game that attendees could play to win prizes on the main Castrol stand. This animation included creating mock-ups of all the prizes, before handing the final file to our developers to build ahead of the Exhibition.

Although these features were some of the main captivating elements of the two Castrol stands, there was a colossal amount of work that went into the event behind the scenes. Between designing, printing and fulfilling marketing collateral to be distributed at the event and collating branded stock such as tables and chairs to be taken to the NEC, the team meticulously prepared all the details that came together seamlessly at the event.

The results.

Over 15,000 visitors attended Automechanika 2025 and the three Castrol stands were a definite talking point of the event with its never before seen features.
