CATCH UP WITH PURE’S PR DIRECTOR

Leanne Wilkinson

In this series, we’re giving you an insight into the Pure team. Next up it’s Pure’s PR director, Leanne Wilkinson.

What does a normal day entail as PR director at Pure?

It sounds very cliché but no two days are the same. As PR director I oversee all PR and social media accounts from a strategy and messaging point of view, as well as being involved on accounts from writing features to attending journalist meetings. I also work very closely with our marketing department and ensure that messaging and strategy is consistent across all integrated accounts.

What’s the best thing about working at Pure?

The relaxed and down-to-earth atmosphere. Working in an agency on a variety of clients can sometimes be stressful, so working with a friendly team with a great sense of humour certainly makes Pure stand out for me.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be an author and was constantly writing stories – I’ve still got many of them today!

Why did you choose PR?

I studied business at sixth form and we did a unit on propaganda and how psychology was used to appeal to the masses to change behaviour. I found it so fascinating how PR can have such an influence on behaviour and change how people perceive a particular brand through communications. So I decided to study it at university and completed my dissertation on the psychology of PR and if it really works.

What’s been your favourite project at Pure?

One of my favourite projects was launching a new high-end sofa brand, Spink & Edgar Upholstery. We developed everything from the brand and a bespoke website to interactive POS and teaser videos. To maximise the budget we used PR and social media to launch the product to both a trade and consumer audience. As this was the only activity being used we were able to track which sales were as a result of PR – which was very rewarding!
